Ok first my rig.
7700k 4.8ghz ( can easily over clock to 5ghz ) -corsair h100i v2
Corsair 16gb ddr4 3000
Evga 980 ti hybrid (1439 MHz )
Msi 980 ti gaming- kraken g10 installed (1441 MHz) -Corsair h55
Evga 750 watt psu

While playing black ops 3 (today)
My CPU usage was spiking very high playing zombies. Sometimes pushing it to 100%

My 7700k is delided and temps were in the lower 60's so I'm not overheating.
Could my 980 ti's become bottlenecked.
I'm am starting to think my psu doesn't have enough power for my system and is affecting my cpu.....?.?.??.???.?

Should I get a replacement on my 7700k?
Should I buy a larger PSU for my set up?
Can not having enough power affect the cpu.?.?.?.

SLI was the culprit. I don't understand how, but my CPU usage went from 80-99% to 30-40%. Literally sli was to blame. Both 980 ti's were overclocked over 1440 MHz and my usage was at 99% most of the time in black ops 3. When I sold both cards and got a 1080 ti my CPU usage was low 40%. What this tells me is that the 7700k could not handle 980 ti sli. I get about the same performance but the usage is way lower. Many people stated black ops 3 to be a high usage game. While that may be true it is only using 40% now. That's a 59% drop from the sli numbers.
So the verdict is that 7700k/980 ti sli is not a good combo.
Maybe a 6800k/Ryzen/more cores for sli.
What fps were you running at the time? The higher the fps the higher the CPU load.

A PSU cannot cause a cpu to gpu to underperform and the 7700k is the king of gaming CPU's at the moment. With any setup there will be times when the CPU is the limiting factor, that's normal.

At 1440p/max graphics fps go anywhere from 120-160.
I was expecting usage around 60 to 70ish but not 100%
I only noticed because I installed afterburner/rivatuner.
I'm in the process of resetting my pc.
Would you recommend getting a higher wattage psu (mine is 750 watt)

Spikes of up to 100% CPU usage is normal in modern games. This is happening in a lot of gaming benchmarks. It can be caused by poorly optimized games that place an unbalanced load on one or two cores, or it can happen while playing high CPU load titles that are better optimized to use multiple cores. If you check benchmarks for GTA V and BF1 you will notice that the 7700K can easily spike to 100% load at certain times and this is using a single GPU for most of the reviews.

I agree that the PSU cannot be the cause of the performance dips. PSU power issues generally result in the game crashing or even the PC crashing. Reduced performance is not a symptom of a lack of power.

I would not replace your 7700K. It is the best you can get for gaming (slightly behind it is the new Ryzen 1800x which is actually playing most of those games with less CPU load but it pushes out less FPS at the high end).

Funny thing, I sold my two 980 ti's and got a 1080 ti. My CPU usage went down dramatically when sli is no longer present.

980 ti sli/7700k 5ghz between 80-99% CPU usage

1080 ti 2075 MHz/7700k 5ghz between 30-40% CPU usage

Sli must really stress the 7700k

I have the new 7700k asus maximus ix hero, nothing is overclocked sorry also running corsair dominator platinums 32gb kit at 2400mhz. My usage was ok a few days ago playing battlefield 1. Last 3 days or so it spiked up to 90-100% I was worried as I am not in sli and only running a single gtx 1080, resolution 2560x1440 ultra... is the resolution the culprit?? I have not made any drastic changes to my system however just worried as to why the load is so high?
