Hi, I have been having massive problems with my Windows 7 laptop. It gets up to 90 degrees + when playing small indie games and it sometimes shuts down completely, I have a fan blowing on it and its on my flat desk. I have vacuumed it, leaf blowed it and tried to open it up and I got a tiny bit of dust out. I have disabled all startup items and lowered processor maximum and minimum state in power options. My specs are an 1.75ghz Intel core i7 Q740 4GB RAM and a 330m Nvidia Graphics card. Please help.

If you search your exact laptop model you might be able to find a disassembly guide on youtube. If you follow the guide exactly you should be able to get the job done if you have a bit of experience at handling tools like screwdrivers and being careful with the plastic panels. Depending on the model it can be as easy as removing a couple of screw or it can mean a significant disassembly job of 30-60min.

If you are not comfortable doing this maybe you know a friend or family member who could help? If not and you do not wish to disassemble then the only remaining option would be to replace the laptop with a desktop or a laptop with better cooling.

You can try to change the Thermal Paste on the CPU/GPU but that requires a total disassembly of the laptop. This is the only remaining that you can still try to do to mitigate the temperatures. This is a problem with laptop gaming and it is caused by the tight confines under which the hardware needs to operate.

I have tried to disassemble my laptop before, as I said. But I was scared that I would break it. It didn't turn on for 3 days after i disassembled it and then all of a sudden it worked fine. Would you know why this happened. Btw thanks for answering.
