Would the mentioned board support 10? The machine was built in 2008 to run XP Pro 64 bit.
I have installed a new HDD and windows 10 64 bit but am having quite a few crashes.
The other components are CPU Intel quad core 6600
GPU Nvidia 8800 GTX
8 GB Corsair DDR 2 ram. The RAM has been tested and is fine. I would not like to scrap the machine as the components are good quality.

Just for my tuppence worth, I had to downgrade the bios version of my motherboard for it to run windows 10 x64 properly! I am running a bios version that is 3x older than the most current (latest update was in 2011!!) It had a couple of errors while installing and i had a job getting things quite right, but ever since - (touch wood) it has been flawless. Check my machine specs in my name badge thing. You may find you have to use some drivers from windows 8, but i cant remember which ones i used in the end!

Good luck!

It hard to say because the chip-set is supported up to windows 7 on nvidia web site. The computer will work with windows 10 but some function may not work and I don't know what it will affect on your pc. If you want windows 10 really bad then you will have to use install windows 7 to install all the drivers for the board then you upgrade from 7 to 10 to be able to keep the chip-set drivers.

Hi wonder if you can help please? Did you do this by upgrade from Windows 7 or clean install. Did you have any issues with random crashes of windows and how did you resolve if so? Apologies noob trying to build a cheap gaming rig for kids. Many thanks

Hi deaks1984, Yes I have managed to get it running great, very stable and quite quick [ for it's age ] Did have a lot of issues with the first instal of 10 so gave it to a lad at the UNI [ Computer engineering faculty ] and he has it running great now after my efforts. One thing that I know he did was turn off the energy savings in the Pci e which is part of of the ASPM . Prior to that, the GPU would suddenly freeze and then a few seconds later the screen would go blank.

Now running sweetly, I wish I could give you more info but as it was beyond my capacity to get it running , hence the University dept.

Thank you for your help. I am running a q6600 and gtx770 from this mobo. I have now done a clean install rather than the update. It has improved but I am still experiencing the odd random crash. It is literally just a stuck screen rather than any blue screen or restart. I have to power the PC down to resolve.

If you find any other info it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks again.
