What is a good CPU upgrade option?

So I recently found that my new GPU is being bottlenecked by my current CPU. I've looked around and cannot seem to find what I'm looking for, so I felt asking a real person what the best upgrade for CPU to that will make my PC performance better.

(Note: This PC is mainly used for games, but I also edit videos and photos from time to time)
My current Build:

GeForce GTX 1060
AMD FX-6300
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard
750W PSU
8GB RAM

Yes. Most everything else should transfer without a problem. Due to the major change in hardware though, you will need to reinstall the OS, and maybe reactivate if it doesn't auto-reactivate.

I...
according to : http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/M5A78L-M_USB3.html best bet is FX-8370, 8350, 8320, 8310, 8300.
and according to last ten 8370 sold on ebay can be had for an average of : 120$

maybe start considering saving moneis and go to a Ryzen 5 .. your half way there considering FX 8370 CPU alone
and bring that computer out of the dark ages ? (joke)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($166.55 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.89 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI B350M GAMING PRO Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($78.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Team Elite Plus 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($59.52 @ Newegg)
Total: $329.95

another choice would be switching t Intel and for about the price of your FX 8370, get a much more fexible upgradable computer that will run circles around what your would have with an 8370

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($59.48 @ OutletPC)

Memory: Crucial 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($53.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $178.46

There are a lot of good options, but most of them will require that you replace your motherboard and RAM too - there aren't any real, significant upgrades that will drop into your board, because socket AM3+ hasn't had a new CPU design since 2012.

Good CPU upgrade?

Sticking with AMD, Ryzen R5 1400.

Going Intel, I7-7700k.

You would be able to reuse your case, peripherals, and probably your PSU (depending on age and model/features). RAM and motherboard would be a forced upgrade with the CPU (either option) and your GPU can also be reused.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade my motherboard, but I guess that's inevitable now isn't it. So if I have a few month old PSU, all I'd need to replace apart from my CPU would be my motherboard and RAM? (Making sure I have it right)

I did forget to mention though if your storage devices are not SATA, (iow: they are PATA: IDE/EIDE,) then you may have an issue there... fortunately those are fairly cheap.
