hello everybody
the question is the topic.. i've been noticing in some games ( ie ghost recon wildlands) that in very crowded moments ( lots of enemies around) my gpu usage drops down and i have a little fps drop and the game just feels less smooth to me.. so i wonder, is my i7 7700 bottlenecking my gpu just because it's not overclocked? i have a fresh rig, I had been told that my i7700 was perfect.. that it was already an overkill.. otherwise i would have not minded to spend only 50 euros more to get the k version :(
what can i do to fix it in case?
thank you for your suggestions

i'm playing it at 1080p, yes i'm playing online in COOP mode.. my memory is 16 gb corsair 1400 mhz.. i run the game on a sansung ssd 950 evo... i've been told that maybe it's because my cpu is not overclocked.. so it bottlenecks.. i don't know..

That CPU is more enough able to handle the game. I am also going to assume you mean 2400mhz. Playing on a SSD doesn't improve gameplay, just loading time (just a FYI).

So I would recommend getting CPU load, GPU load numbers. Also, are you using the stock cooler? What are your temps looking like?

yes 2400 sorry. well in the moments in which i see my fps drop a bit the gpu usage drops to 60-70.. my temps hover around 80 degrees.. idk if i use a stock cooler this is a clevo laptop taken from a reseller that is well known for very good cooling systems.. temp should not be a problem.. the game runs very nice in almost every single moment.. smooth and all.. but again in those moments in which there's a lot of enemy units like a lots ( 30-40-50 chasing you) then that happens.. that i see fps drop from 60 to around 45 and the game feels just less smooth to me--

Depends how the game is optimized. Sounds like one thread is bogging down when there are lots of players/activity somewhere in the game. It could be your computer, or could be the internet connection, or could be the server itself you're playing on.

Look for one CPU thread pegged in task manager or MSI afterburner when you notice the gameplay take a hit.

I reckon you're running Win10 with a Kaby Lake system. Open task manager to the performance tab, right click on the graph and select "show logical processors".

Run your game with that open in the background and when it begins to slow down, alt-tab back and see if one of the threads was near 100% utilization vs other graphs.

MSI Afterburner has a similar tracking feature for each CPU core somewhere in configuration I believe.
