Need help choosing between GTX 1060 and RX 580

I need help deciding between the gtx 1060 6gb and the rx 580 8gb. i can get the 1060 for $323 or the rx580 for $338 (converted from Rand to Dollar). (The 1060 deal includes For Honor or Ghost recon Windlands) Im upgrading from the gtx 960 since I noticed that i struggle to get good fps with my 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor. which card do you think would be better for future games?

I hate waiting for new cards to be released from nvidia/amd. I also already sold my gtx 960 so im sitting without a gpu at the moment which sucks :(. ive never owned a amd gpu so i dont know the pros and cons between the 2 manufacturers.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

The 580 is a tiny bit faster than the 1060 6gb. However both wills struggle a bit at 2560*1080 to keep a constant 60fps. You might have to lower some settings.
  2. Get a 1070.

Future wise more RAM and the option of crossfire gives the 580 a good advantage. You could even tri-fire if AMD comes with a dual gpu single card. Another pro is free-sync is cheaper than g-sync monitors.
  4. The difference depends on the game. In most DX11 titles the 1060 is a little faster and in most of the DX12 titles the 480/580 are a little faster.
