Hi all, I have a fairly nice PC setup that has never once had any performance issues.
Starting this morning when loading up Overwatch I noticed that my frame rate would drop from its usual cap at 100 fps into the low 40s as the game was being played. This was present in several of my games. Please help me troubleshoot the issue.

Here are my specs:

Gigabyte GA‑Z170N‑Gaming 5 Mobo
6700k at 4.4ghz
16gb ddr4 at 3200mhz
GTX 1080 FTW at stock
Samsung 850 evo SSD in Raid 0
650 watt Corsair PSU

I monitored RAM, CPU, and GPU usage. The temps stayed low and usage never reached 100%.

Any thoughts?

Test your drives using hdtune to check for errors. Stress your CPU and GPU using aida64 and furmark. If these turn up nothing then check for viruses and malware.

I just completed these checks, Anti-VIrus found no problems. Also, Heaven was run for 15 minutes without any performance hangups.

That solution worked for a few minutes but then began to exhibit the same problem.
All of these games are being run on two drives that are in RAID 0.
Could this be impacting performance?

I still don't have a solution after restoring everything to defaults and formatting the RAID drives back to standard volumes. All games have been freshly installed and still the issue remains. Frames will sit at 100 and then plummet to 30 and then back up again. It has made all games essentially unplayable as the frame rate changes so suddenly.

I reverted back to the older drivers.

The issue is still present and I have a dramatic reduction in fps during game play.
I monitored my CPU and Memory Usage while gaming and neither ever came close to 100%.
Also, I reseated all of my hardware just to be safe.

Just noticed that when moving the cursor during youtube videos, there is terrible stutter, while the audio is fine. The CPU usage for Chrome jumps up dramatically while doing so and goes back to normal as soon as I stop moving the cursor.
Thanks for all your help.

Any more ideas?

Check your usable RAM in computer propertys. If you see usable RAM much lower than 16GB's then you need to step thought the fixes in the link.

Then if all the RAM is accessible test your RAM.

Next you may want to disable/turn off services such as superfetch and any others you aren't needing.

I ran the tests above, after 20min of testing the memory passed with zero errors and had recognized and usable 16gb of memory. I have deleted the logitech suite and reloaded drivers for the mouse. I also tried a different mouse to no avail.

I appreciate all of your suggestions.
