I am running a Gigabyte GA-X99-UD5 WIFI motherboard in a custom PC built for Livestreaming encoding and prodcution. It "features a unique PCI Express design that utilizes 100% of all 40 lanes from the CPU when in a 4-Way or 3-Way graphics configuration".

What I'm trying to do is upgrade the current graphics card. There is a GeForce GT 610 in there now and I would like to install the GTX 1080 so I can do hardware encoding and utilize my HTC Vive and play games thru SteamVR.

I am a noob and haven't done this before. Will replacing the graphics card be doable and be a relatively simple process?

Thanks

GT 610 to a GTX 1080; now THAT's what I call an upgrade!
Should be a simple swap and you're ready to go as long as you have high quality 520W PSU or better.
I would recommend first uninstalling the old driver first, although it isn't totally necessary as long as you install the new driver after rebooting.
