Slow internet speeds through powerline adapters and direct ethernet cable not possible

Hi guys,

I have an internet problem. I can't run an ethernet cable from my modem to my computer because that would require drilling trough multiple walls. And for some reason the powerline adapters (I tried multiple types of powerline adapters) don't work at the right speed (~2/12Mbps). But when I take my PC downstairs and plug it directly in the modem it gives much higher speeds (~80/90Mbps). Does anyone know whats wrong and what to do? I am quite desperate.

Thanks!

Solution
I would try different outlets to try and get the powerine adapters on the same phase.

As stated if you have dirty power then powerline adapters are going to be horrible.

Since you cant run an ethernet cable then wireless solution is your only other option
(fyi you dont run ethernet accross many walls you either take it up the wall to attic or down wall to crawlsapce depedning on design of house and then take it over to the wall you need it on, then route it back down/up).

I would consider something like this so your computer is not physically blocking the wifi signal: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Wi-Fi-Express-Adapter-PCE-AC56/dp/B00JNA337K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493170245&sr=8-1&keywords=ASUS+PCE-AC56
Another option is you can...
Powerline adapters can work very well, or work very poorly in your given conditions.

FIrst and foremost the AV2 (generation 2) versions work tremendiously better then the gen 1 devices. I beleive the Gen 2 devices start at av500 speeds.

Secondly these adapters HAVE to be plugged in direct to the outlet. Surge protectors or even power strips greatly reduce their performance.

If it all possible you should have the powerine adpaters on the same phase of your electrical system.

Other issues that decrease powerline adapters performance:
Florescent light ballasts or other electric motors on the same circuit
3 Phase electrical systems found in rural areas (where homes are miles apart from each other)
Just really dirty power from electric company

I have tried AV2 but they gave more or less the same result, and they are plugged in directly into a power outlet. So I am wondering how could I get stable and fast internet speeds on my PC?

Thanks again!

Another option is you can convert pretty much any wifi router into a wireless bridge to receiver. Then you configure it to connect to your main router via wifi, and then you can connect the LAN port of the wireless bridge router to your ethernet port on computer.
