So, I recently purchased a Xonar DGX for my modmic 5 because the mic quality on my mobo is horrible. When I installed the Xonar and the proper drivers..the quality sounded alot better (less noise) but now its extremely quiet.

Here is a screenshot of my settings:

Here is my exact setup:
-modmic 3.5mm jack plugged into xonar
-speakers plugged onto onboard mobo soundcard
-usb headset pluged into back usb panel

My mic boost is at 100 on xonar and winodws settings. and there is an example of how quiet it sounds in audacity I am saying "hello" 3 seperate times at normal voice volume and the mic is about half an inch away from my face. The only time I can get it to sound "louder" is if I put the mic pretty much touching my lips. I've seen videos of people using this mic even on mobo sound cards and it not even sounding this quiet.

I also noticed that other than monitoring the mic sounds the xonar audio center is not controlling anything. If I put the volume to 0% I still hear the same levels when monitoring the sound on my widows sound playbacks. Not sure if that's supposed to happen.

I would like to know if in the end I should return/replace either of these since they're still under Amazon's return policy.

Solution
Requesting deletion of this thread, turns out the soundboard is most likely shot, I tried connecting my speakers to it and they sound awful muffled with static and then I try connecting a cheap usb soundcard I found and it works fine and louder.
