I purchased a second RX480 to crossfire my setup, but the framerate is very unstable. It will go from 60fps lock to around 20fps. The three games I've tested the most are Dark Souls 3, Overwatch, and Batman Arkham Origins. T
he usage graphs from Radeon Setting show corresponding drops in usage on both cards with the stuttering. The graphs aren't from the same run.

I have an 8320e overclocked to 4.2Ghz on a Sabertooth 990fx 2.0 Powered by a Corsair RM1000, and 16GB of 2400 Ram. Although I might go back to 24GB at 1600, the extra 800Mhz didn't seem to fix anything.

Thanks in advance

I've been doing a little research on my own, online to see if it was worth the investment of getting another rx480. Most seem to agree that there are no mayor benefits of CF and that the cons outcome the pros. For what I've heard, its not a good idea pairing 2 rx480. Despite that, here's a link which shows crossfire game compatibility. Oddly enough, the games you mention are included as supported titles, some even rated to be Excelent at crossfire. I think different gpus don't matter in CF, as long as they are AMD but be sure to check your configs again.

I'll keep fiddling with the settings, I've got a few more weeks if I decide to return the second card. The tiny bits I get in between stutters look really promising.

I managed to get it to work, I disconnected two of my three monitors. Maybe if I force the same resolution on all of them it will work with them all. I'm using two identical Asus Strix 8GB models.

Mmm yeah, all of them 1080? or higher? resolutions on all screens will hit performance while gaming, too many pixels being pushed out of the cards. What kind of games do you play?
