Hey guys im new to the forums and have a question so heres my story and what im trying to achieve.

My main Pc (that i use on a daily basis) is running windows 10.

I have 4 other pc's i am working on.
1 dell intel core 2 duo
And x3 old P4s

Ive succesfully installed windows 10 onto the dell.

I then used the dell and my main pc to install windows 7 onto 2 other hdd's planning to put win7 into the P4s

With windows10 hdds disconnected both my main pc and the dell will boot up to windows 7 without a problem.

However. When i put any hdd into the P4's i get the "bootmgr is missing" message.
The bios of all the P4s recognise the hdd.
I have tried changing boot order and fiddling with settings in bios to no avail.

When installing windows i have a message telling me that this hardware may not work with bios.
However it does work on my main and in the dell.

My best guess now is to update the bios of the p4's.
But to be honest im truely unsure if this will help.

I have just tried booting win7 from usb to fix this issue but everytime recieve "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk."
I used the windows media creation tool to create this bootable usb.

Please help any input appreciated.

Solution
why not just install 7 on the p4's directly?

Anyways, i suspect your inssue with 7 is that you are leaving the 10 drive installed so its using that bootmanager; hence its missing when you try to boot 7 on the p4's.

Hi,
I cant install 7 directly as i get please insert boot disk message.

Also there is no hdd other than the one containing windows 7 on the p4s. I can boot the win7 hdd fine fine from an intel core 2 duo and my personal amd. I tested the win 7 hdd in both. But none of my P4's can locate the bootmgr file.
I have also disconnected all drives including cd and floppy for testing purposes.

Sorry i missunderstood your first answer and have chosen it as best solution.
Now i feel silly. I was installing 7 onto a secondary hdd through the duo/my main and then removing the hdd and inserting it into the p4's oblivious to the fact that bootmgr remains on the hdd that contains windows 10. In turn leaving my windows 7 hdd's with no bootmgr file. Im 100% this is the problem and will rectify it later today. Thanks for shedding some light. Wow i feel silly now haha thanks!
