Hello, I have a 1440x900 monitor and I'm trying to record my Gameplay on 720p but I had some problems, when I set my In-game resolution to 1440x900 and I record, the quality is great but the only issue is that I get those annoying black bars on the side, when I try to record with my In-Game resolution to 1280x720, the quality is low with no bars, I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, I used Nvidia ShadowPlay and OBS.

Am I doing it wrong or I just can't record in 720p on my 1440x900 monitor? Anyway to fix this issue?

Thanks!

Your resolution (1440x900) is equal to an aspect ratio of 16:10.
720p however is equal to an apect ratio of 16:9. This is the reason for the black bars.

If you want to record 720p in high Quality, try to set the game to a bigger resolution at the aspect ratio of 16:9. for example 1080p (1920x1080). This should solve your problem.

Even better, you could try to record in 1080p entirely and then downscale the video to 720p in your editing software. This should maximize your quality output.

I can't really find 1920x1080 in my game's settings, what if I put my In-Game resolution to 1366x768 and then on OBS I set the Base Resolution to 1366x768 and the Output to 1280x720p, would that work too?

(Haven't tried since am not home yet)

That should work. 1366x768 is not quite 16:9, but very close. There will most likely still be black bars, but they should be significantly smaller than before. However, I doubt that the quality will differ much from 1280x720 footage. But you will have to test and see for yourself i guess.

I think it's weird that you can't choose 1920x1080. Maybe you could set your Display Settings to 1080p in your graphics driver program for the time you want to record stuff.
