Hello,

I'm trying to get some suggestions as to how I should go about troubleshooting this issue. If the computer is shutdown, on the next boot it will fail to boot 3 times then reset and boot into BIOS with default settings. This is happening even with stock BIOS configuration. After it resets, the computer is fine and runs great until I shut down the PC again. I have had this problem with other boards in the past but it was usually due to an unstable overclock. I haven't had time to mess with it as i've been working a lot, but this evening I plan to spend some time with it.

Thanks!

I dont even need to look at that list, as soon as I read you have Corsair RAM that was enough, ive seen no end of problems with Corsair ram with RyZen, doesnt seem to like it, Crucial and G.Skill seem to be the best, that partpicker list you posted has patriot ram on it though

Is the bios up to date?

If not, dont update in windows, use the M-Flash tool in the bios and load bios defaults before flashing, then reboot back to the bios and flash.

Theres quite a few bios updates for that board https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350M-GAMING-PRO.html#down-bios

I have the Patriot Viper currently and ordered the Corsair LPX as a recommendation from another user with the same board/cpu combo. I hope I don't run into these issues that you are mentioning... ugh. Yes i have updated to the latest BIOS.

I was helping a guy out today who had Corsair and wouldnt post, he took the whole kit into the shop he brought it from and they put Crucial ram in it, it fired up straight away withouyt any problem, but then they flashed the bios and the Corsair seemed to work OK after that, I have G.skill Trident Z RGB Ram in a very similar board to yours, I have the MSI B350m Mortar and never had an issue with it at all, in fact, my ram is running at full speed, 3200mhz in this board.

Thanks for your responses. Here is the memory that will be delivered today to me: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233867

The latest review mentions someone successfully running 3200mhz with the same board as me so it should work. I just hope that the memory is the reason for the failed boots and BIOS resets. If the memory doesn't fix the problem, I think im going to remove the board from the case and power it on with only the essentials. I have an extra GPU to test with as well.

An update: The issue was memory related. I replaced the Patriot Viper ram with Corsair LPX and it now runs good. However, i'm not able to run at the rated 3200mhz speed. Setting the AMP to 3200 causes my PC to have the same symptoms as before... PC failing to boot and then BIOS resets itself. I am able to run stable @ 2933mhz with no issues. The Corsair LPX model is also listed on the MSI B350M Gaming Pro support page as compatible @ 3200. Not sure why it wont run at full speed but I think i can deal with 2933 :)
