Last night my video blinked as it sometimes does saying the driver failed. Normally it immediately comes back saying the video was restarted. This time it did not. I pressed the on/off switch, holding it down until the system stopped. I powered back on, and no video. I turned off the system with the main power on/off switch, removed the video card, plugged in the on board video, turned back on the main power switch, and pressed the on/off switch.
The system failed to boot. It gave a message that I cannot remember, but I hit a key ant the system booted into BIOS. I Set the option to only use on board video, saved the change and restarted.
I then got the messages:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact you system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
I loaded my installation disk into the DVD drive and restarted the computer and get the same messages.
I tried my Blu-ray drive and the same messages.
I tried my Windows 8 and Windows XP disks too.
At this point I am accepting either my motherboard or CPU or both have died. As I have no way of testing get which, I am curious, can I boot that far with a dead CPU?
Any help identifying the source of the problem would be most welcome.
