I purchased an SSD as a replacement drive for my Gateway M250 hard drive, but the connectors are different to I cannot install internally. Right now I have a power adaptor plugged into the wall, cannected to SSD, which is then connected to USB. This is cumbersome and unreliable. Can the SSD be directly connected to the computer via docking outlet, or means other than USB? I cannot afford a new drive yet.

Yes, exactly like that ... the drive (drive c on my machine) is Hitachi Travelstar ATA/IDE 5V 7200 rpm, only 50 Gb I think, which is plenty for my needs. I really only use e-mail, and my drive has only recently started to show errors, so I thought I would invest in an SSD rather than a new machine.
