I have a htpc I built, i5-2500k with asus p8p67-m pro and gskill ripjaw ddr3 4x2 and 2x2 ram. I had it in another build before and it started crashing, so I did a new build and replaced everything, hdd, psu, new version of windows, and same problem. It freezes after being idle for hours, like this time it froze about 6 hours later. I have sleep turned off and hibernate off. Can anyone help me with some troubleshooting.

has the cpu and mobo ever been used for overclocking? how about overclocking of graphic card? memory? messed around in bclk any time i the bios either with cpu or mobo or together?
what is the psu brand and model? how old is the psu? have you ever checked temperatures (even while idle) and have you checked for dust inside case?

The cpu used to be over clocked, it is not now, I just reset the cmos in the bios and it froze still. It has frozen on 3 different psus so that is not the problem but it is a seasonic m12ii. Memory or gpu are not over clocked.

Core v21, but it did it in my old case too. Could the 2500k be dying? It has done this freezing thing for years, I just lived with it cause I never could figure it out. Just trying to figure it out again. I'll do memtest
