Hey,

I am tryin to overclock my CPU with my new cooler.
I am just wondering at what Voltage I shud be at?
I am trying stress tests with 1.95-1.2 voltage and i reach 80 degrees - 44x on Multipliers.

Shud I go lower on Voltage to lower my temps or what should I do? ( beginner )

Thank you!

You *should be at the lowest voltage that holds the overclock stable. Any voltage over that minimum threshold is creating excess heat. Together, heat and voltage are what slowly but surely degrade the die.

You determine that lowest voltage by continually working back down to the point where it won't hold stability, then set for good at the last voltage that worked for an hour without a crash.

IMO, the right strategy is to OC as much as you need to get a measurable improvement, and not a bit more. OC for the sake of it just wears out your equipment faster and wastes your money of it's not giving you a visibly, notably better experience. Max clock, max voltage and max heat really don't get you much past the point of diminishing returns.

Luck!

Thank you very much for your response!

How much time in Stress test do I need before my pc actually hits BSOD? - incase to low Voltage

Thanks!

I would suggest that an hour running stable - no BSOD or other performance problems - should indicate a stable OC. The idea, of course, is to NOT hit BSOD when you're done, hence the hour test for stability.

Also...tons of good vids on YT to walk you through safe OC protocol. Try LinusTechTips ro JayzTwoCents to start, and you'll find lots of others. Go slow and methodical, test at each stage, and use minimum voltage for a stable clock to minimize wear.
