Yes, typically it reduces to the slowest & smallest.
So a 250gb nvme with an 8tb hdd in (any) raid gives you basically two 250gb hdd's. Raid0 gives you 500gb total, raid1 =250gb. Worst part is that many controllers do not allow any access to the leftover space.
