do you have good antennas on the desktop pc?
what antennas do you have?
the drivers, did windows installed them for you or you downloaded them?
sometimes is just that the wifi card is bad, so you disable it and buy another
on desktops is preferable to use ethernet cable, with the ethernet adapter
