Why the 980 ti beats the fury x?

Hello everyone!
Just asking why the gtx 980 ti sort of beats the r9 fury x in fps even though fury x has way more shading units than the 980 ti and the clock speed isn't that much of a difference;1050 mhz for the fury x and 1075 mhz for the 980 ti but still somehow the GTX 980 ti manages to beat the R9 FURY X. Why is that?

both using different architecture. so you can't compare them directly like that. also it all depends on how efficient each architecture using it's available raw power.

and the clock speed isn't that much of a difference;1050 mhz for the fury x and 1075 mhz for the 980 ti

but due to nvidia gpu boost the clock can go up to 1.2ghz

Fury X most often very competitive with reference 980ti at 4k (even faster than reference 980ti at TPU 4k relative performance) but because of Fury X have no more headroom for faster clock the card cannot keep up with factory overclocked 980ti.
