dead pixel or a very sticky dust?

today i've notice a very transparent tiny gray dot on my led screen, i thought it was stuck dust, tried to remove it but it won't come off, other dusty spots around it came off though.
i don't know if its a dead pixel or just a sticky dust?, it doesn't look like a dead pixel for what i know.. can dead pixels be in a shape of light transparent gray color?

There are several type of pixel defects, dead is when a pixel is fully off but you can also have stuck pixels that are stuck at a certain color, or some other damage in the area of the pixel, say a scratch or cut on the screen that causes the colors to shift due to refraction.

captaincharisma is correct.

Being able to feel it means it can't be a pixel due to pixels being
1. Flat
2. Under a sheet of plastic/glass.

A dead pixel will be just that, a pixel showing the deepest black your monitor can display.
If you have a lot of backlight bleed it is possible for this dark area to be gray.

The above is a severe case of backlight bleed.

The easiest way to see is to go into paint and make an all black picture and put that picture full screen.

Then take the lights off in the room.

You should be able to see the lightbleed more clearly.

thanks for your help.. i do have a backlight bleed, because my monitor is an IPS, causing IPS glow at the edges. however i have another dead pixels on the screen and it doesn't look like this one. they are clear black, but this one is transparent, also it isn't at the edges of the screen where the backlight is. i don't feel it when i touch it, but when i put a small amount of water on it then apply a slight pressure it disappears, then it comes back again when the water is dry.

thank you.. I'm suspecting that if its not a dead pixel then it maybe a tiny scratch or a small burn or something.. can that be removed?.. i can't feel it when i touch it though, it feels quite smooth and flat, so I'm not sure..

An LCD screen is actually made of many different layers.

While they're assembled in clean rooms, it is not unheard of for dust to get trapped between some of these layers, making it impossible to remove without destroying the LCD or making it worse (getting more dust stuck between the layers). If it doesn't bother you, just ignore it and live with it. If it really bothers you and the monitor is new, return and exchange it.

thank you.. it doesn't bother me that much, i just wanted to identify that tiny dot.. i just discovered when i turn off my monitor i still can see it more obvious, but when my monitor is on its not obvious on the black background.
can dust trapped between layers or dead pixels be noticeable when the monitor is off?

You should not be able to contaminate the inside with dust unless you physically damage the screen in some way "dropping".
The monitor is factory sealed from air and dust while in the "dust free" room .

i too don't think that its a dust between layers because i still can see it when i turn my monitor off, that means its located on the first layer of the monitor. but also it means that its not a dead pixel, because you can't see a dead pixel when your monitor is off, right?
