Is the Corsair CX600 good for my build?

Question from Denis_43 : "Can my PSU hold those clocks?"

I dont see why it wouldn't, the CX600 is more than enough for that build. As long as the gpu itself is stable at those clocks the psu should have no issue powering it. The 8800 GTS 640mb was my first gpu, what do you play with that? Does it still do alright?
IMO, you should not use that PSU. From Tom's Tier List: "Built down to a low price. Not exactly the most stable units ever created. Very basic safety circuitry or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice."
Your decision, but a bad choice for a rig with a graphics card.

Everything attached to PSU or fed power by the motherboard depends on clean, stable power. Using a cheap PSU endangers everything attached not just the PSU because one of the reasons they are cheap is that they do not have over/under voltage protection. So when something does go wrong, and that will eventually happen at some point, there is no circuit protection for the rest of your computer.

Another reason cheap PSU's are cheap is that they use cheap components which means that something will go wrong earlier rather than later.

Question from Denis_43 : "Corsair CX600 good,?"

I've come across a bunch of posts that say they aren't that good. I seem to recall someone saying that the Corsair models that end in 50 instead of 00 are better, but I'd wait for someone else to chime in.

This is a very old system not worth all that much, no offense to the OP. I see nothing wrong with them using the CX600 for this build, it is not that bad of a psu. I think it fits this build just fine.

I really think its kind of ridiculous you guys are telling this guy to upgrade the psu for that build. In my opinion that would be a waste of money, the CX600 is not some dangerous psu thats going to destroy all your components and set your house on fire. This build is perfectly fine with that cx 600 the way I see it.

If you already own it its fine , there are a hundred better psu's than the corsair & thousands of worse ones.
Its average quality at worst but is so overspecced for that system its going to be under no stress whatsoever.

If you don't already own it then you can buy better quality for the same price.

If you do own it, use it .

I was assuming they already owned it for some reason. But I agree if you dont already have the cx600 there are better choices.

If you already have it, you can keep it

But if you want to purchase a new one it makes no sense, they are expensive and bad quality. They say "it is good enough for your specs" but why not getting a better one?. The seasonic S12II series are 40 dollars or so and they are much better than old corsair CX series (New CX series are very good)
