Quick Summary:
*Full Specs Below*
QNAP Thunderbolt NAS does absolutely nothing when connecting to Windows 10 PC via Thunderbolt 2. Nothing in the device manager, Thunderbolt software, etc. It's like I never plugged it in at all. I was able to setup a network connection to a Razer Blade Stealth to the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port on the ThunderboltEx3 card, so I know at least the Thunderbolt 3 port works. I also managed to plug in a variety of devices into the USB 3.1 port on the card.

I recently got a QNAP TVS-1282T NAS with Thunderbolt 2 compatibility for the studio I work for. I had no problem getting a Thunderbolt network going using one of the iMacs my boss purchased to start our video editing department. From there I was easily able to tether the second iMac in the video department to the Thunderbolt network in a daisy-chain fashion by connecting it to the first iMac. However, being the PC fanatic I am, I custom built a very powerful PC workstation that puts the iMacs to shame. Unfortunately, you wouldn't know that anymore because my PC is throttled with a 1GB/s ethernet connection whereas the iMacs have a 20GB/s bandwidth to flourish in. I thought I would be in luck because the ASUS X99 Deluxe II motherboard I bought comes with an ASUS ThunderboltEx 3 expansion card, but every attempt to connect a Thunderbolt 2 device of ANY kind (most importantly, the NAS) yields absolutely no results of any kind on my PC. No connected devices, nothing in device manager, nothing at all in the Thunderbolt software, etc. I WAS able to setup a network connection to a Razer Blade Stealth via the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port on the card using a Thunderbolt 3 (Male > Male) cable that comes with the Razer Core, so I know the ThunderboltEx 3 card works to some degree. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks and I'm beginning to lose my mind. I'm about to reach out to ASUS to see if maybe the card is broken, but while that painfully long process begins I'm hoping someone here has a brilliant solution I haven't thought of (as is often the case).

Things I've tried so far (that I can remember):
*All drivers are up to date*
*Thunderbolt is enabled in BIOS*
*Windows has been reinstalled (for other reasons), nothing changed*1: Connect Thunderbolt 2 cable from NAS to PC. Nothing happens at all.
2: Connect Thunderbolt 2 cable from PC to iMac (hoping to share network that way). Again, nothing at all.
3: Connect Thunderbolt 3 cable from PC to Razer. Successfully established network.
4: Identified the ThunderboltEx 3 card is in the PCI_5 lane in BIOS (which is how I got the Razer to connect)

Hi Robert,
I'm having this exact same issue, but can you please let me know how the adapter solved it? My Qnap ha TB3 and am also working off the Asus Thunderbolt 3 card... driving me nuts.
