I plan to get the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AORUS xtreme edition, and it matches my needs well, but there is one problem. On the backplate, there is this ugly copper heatsink that I cant imagine will go well with my black and green theme. So I was wondering if the heatsink matters enough to the heat dispersion of the card to not mess with it so that I can paint it black. If painted or not painted doesn't matter, what paint should I use?

That copper plate makes direct contact with the GPU. I know it does not go along with your theme, but I would enjoy what bare copper represents and not inhibit it with a plastic coating of paint.
