Ryzen system still won't POST

Hey guys,

Previously I posted a thread about my PC not POSTing. So the end consensus was to RMA my system. So I sent it back to Scan and they did their tests. They said it was all working fine and it simply needed a BIOS update which they did for me.

They sent it back and I received it today and I plugged it all in and nothing.

My specs are as follows:
Ryzen 1600x
MSI Tomahawk Arctic B350
16GB Corsair Vengeance LED 3200Mhz RAM.
MSI gaming X RX 480 8GB
OCZ Gold rated 850Watt PSU

I'm literally lost. It starts and then my screen goes black and it stays like that. I've tried a different GPU, different PCIE slot and different RAM. Literally lost, I just have a permanent VGA EZ Debug light on.

Here's some photos: https://imgur.com/gallery/I1A7l

Any help will be appreciated.

The system would post, but the average user would have no idea that it did POST since there is no display.

@OP

Did you plug in a BIOS speaker to see beep codes. It shows status LEDs in the pictures, have you looked at motherboard manual to see what error lights you are receiving

I see you only have 1 stick of RAM, is that the correct slot for a single stick installation (again consult motherboard manual)?

Have you tested a different PSU? OCZ has not made any units in years so it must be an older PSU and could just not be up to the task of powering that GPU anymore.

The graphics card works in my other system which is a FX9590 / ASUS Sabertooth 990FX so I'm not sure why it's not working now.

I've only got a HDMI but yes it's plugged into the GPU not the motherboard

So I had the whole system out and I've got it on a table. Powered it all up and nothing, no beeps or anything. I removed the GPU and put one stick in. I got one long beep followed by two shorter beeps.

Out of curiosity, who's the "They" in this case? Because I think their incompetence needs to be known in this situation.

If I had to guess, it sounds like your CPU was not properly installed and got damaged. If it did, I would keep hitting "They" back for a new one until they pony it up. Because that's on them.

It's Scan.co.uk who I bought the parts from and who tested it and told me it's working fine. I'm getting the one long beep and two short all the time now, I've literally tried 3 different GPUs. I've tried my RX 480 an R7 260x and an old HD 5770

And you've tried all the RAM in every slot to see if there's a defect? The only other thing that I think could be the problem is that your CPU was installed incorrectly and there's a bent pin somewhere that's causing the trouble. It happens all the time on AMD rigs. And it's happened to me personally, and I've seen it happen in hundreds of situations. If that's the case, I would definitely keep hounding them about this until they fix it, because that's on them.

I have two different sets of RAM. One which I want to use and a testing set so to speak, the one I want to use is my Vengeance LED 3200. And the other is Vengeance LPX 2400 and neither work in any slot!

Then it's either a bad CPU or a bad motherboard, that is about the only thing that is left.

If they have already RMAd and I still say something is wrong. Surely they are going to blame me? I literally have no clue what else it could be. I'm going to put my FX system back together and if it works then it's definitely one of the 3 components I've bought from them

So what are the components that you bought from them?

more than one forum and one bios code list says 1 long two short beeps means graphic card error.
now maybe the first mobo slot has problems and killed anything put inside. hence ...

1. killed your rx 480 so that your rx 480 is dead and won't make a difference on any other slot.
2. killed your r7 260x and hd 5770.
3. rinse and repeat ... you get the picture.

If you hook everything up normally, and you get a blank black screen. after waiting for a minute or so, hit F2 and does anything happen?

Are you SURE your HDMI cable works?

And what if you try putting the gpu in the other PCIE lane?

I also have an MSI Ryzen motherboard and had a panic yesterday because the VGA LED light was on because I had forgotten to plug a monitor into the GPU. (which I only found out about after swapping a different GPU that needed a different cable and saw what I had done)
