System will not power on (I have tried just about everything)

Hi everyone this is my third thread about this issue. The last two post got a few good tips and I tried every one of them and more, yet I still can't get this new system to power on. So what happens is when I flick on the PSU the motherboard LED's and case power button LED lights up, but when I press in the power button (as well as hold) nothing happens.

To begin, I am an experienced builder who builds PC's for friends and family. My most recent build refused to boot and I thought nothing of it, I simply went over the checklist listed on here and after attempting every task aside from booting outside of the case I still couldn't get the system to power on. Quickly let me give you a run-down of what I've done, I have tried booting with no GPU, tried booting with 1 and 2 sticks of RAM. I tested a fresh PSU that I had and still wouldn't power on, I have sent back the motherboard and received a fresh new one... and nothing. I have inserted the CPU into another computer and that other computer boots on just fine. I have also tried to short the power-on pins directly as maybe the case button doesn't want to work. The only things I have not touched at all are the hard drives, everything else have been checked and confirmed. The case comes pre-installed with stand off screws and all cables are connected properly, I can even provide photos if they will help.

Please all I ask is someone help me fix this, I have been working on this PC for a week now and it is very irritating.

Also the specs:

Case: NZXT S340
MB: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro
GPU: MSI RX 480 4GB
CPU: i5 7600k
Cooler: 212 Evo (LED version)
Storage: 3tb Seagate and 250gb 850 evo
RAM: 16gb Corsair LPX
PSU: 650w corsair M

Also a internal wireless network card, and whats odd is the 7000 series cpu boots in my z170 board but not the z270 board, could that be an issue?

Solution
You didn't connect the front panel headers.
Very bottom of the board, near the PSU in the middle, there's a set of pins labeled JFP1.
Page 34 of your MB manual.

but what could it be shorting on? it has no contact with any loose screws, cables or so on and has been taken and replaced in the case over 4 times now. I'll give it a shot I suppose though thank you for the advice.

Standoffs look to be ok but I will try booting out of the case tomorrow. I have been working all day so just plan on relaxing for the rest of the night. Thank you in advance for the advice!

Edit: I've provided a photo of the finished build if that helps. If you'd like I can take others I'm just not sure what you'd like to see in particular.

I'm fairly certain they are connected, on this board the JFP1 pins are located to the right of the M.2 drive

definitely in the picture you have taken they are connected to the wrong pins according to the manual .

I'm not sure what you plugged them into, but it doesn't look like what your motherboard manual says is there, and your picture isn't clear enough for me to read the actual labels on the mobo:

i don't actually think it is labelled.. or at least not underneath the pins . hope it has not caused any damage .

We'll find out once you hook it up correctly. what you plugged it into isn't listed in the manual, but everthing else appears to be in the right order based on what the manual says should be there.

edit: if you click on the image it allows you to zoom in and the label for those pins is on there .

i can see what the OP has done. the label for those pins JSP and i am not sure if it is a 11 or two tiny markings on the board . (looked at it a million times now ! ) .. he/she must have confused that with JFP1

Excuse my language but I shit you the fuck not that those pins looked like they were labeled JFP1 and on top of that my case LEDS were lit up when plugged into them. But yes alas they were actually not the JFP1 pins and I fucked up big time. Again excuse my language and thank you so much for pointing this out. I've now shamed myself as a PC builder but they are labeled so badly and I fault the company on that (and my not reading manuals) thank you again kind sir. And if it's any correlation I have shit eyes so that might not be helping.

P.S: I also forgot to mention I had the carbon version ;c in the end I was still at fault and thank you again.

It seems to be okay, I'm going to install windows and stress test and hopefully all is well. Thank you guys again you really saved me here. I was about to breadboard and then if that failed send the whole thing back. So again thank you a ton!

Also I should have realized something was wrong when I had to force the pins to all fit on those jspi1 pins. It slightly bent one of them but that's nothing that a quick bend back wont fix ;p
