I want to start gaming in 4k and I was gonna a gtx 1070 and I was wondering if I would be able to to use my i5 4460 for 4k. I don't expect to be able to play at the ultra or high preset. Could I expect to get 60ish fps?

Solution
the 4460 is on the low end when it comes to I5 CPU's. with a good GPU it should run fine with games that depend more on the GPU then the CPU. but not that good for CPU intensive games

Graphical settings can always be dropped to allow the GPU to hit a target framerate. If the CPU isn't up to hitting that framerate, there's nothing you can do.

@OP, depends entirely on what games you play. I'm very happy with my 3rd-gen i5.

true, i was talking modern games at at least medium settings. but sure, if you are going to drop everything as low as possible then even at 4k the cpu will bottleneck the gpu at times, especially older games(but youll likely have high fps anyway in that case). but even at low, i wouldnt be surprised if most modern games still max out a 1070 paired with that i5.
