GTX 1080 GPU Usage drops to 0% continuously + underperforms in CSGO

I am having some trouble with my new GTX 1080. Whenever I play CSGO this happens here below. The FPS in the game can't even break the 300 FPS barrier. Most of the time it is around 220 FPS (my Radeon R9 280x did better). Also I get choppy gameplay on top of this.

Does anyone here know what the GPU usage drops could be due to?
Aside from that, does anyone know why the FPS in CSGO is so low? It seems fine in other games such as Doom.

My system is:
i7 4790K
MSI Armor GTX 1080
Z97 Gigabyte Motherboard
Corsair CX750 PSU
2 x Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB (One is partitioned and one parts holds Windows and the other part holds Steam games)
1 x Toshiba P300 3TB 7200RPM 3.5" SATA
24 GB Ram ( 2 x HyperX FURY Series 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz + 2 x G-Skill 4GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133)
BenQ XL2411 144hz Monitor

haha sorry, but the GPU usage is the one above. it is 55%. you should be fine. I have GTX 1070 with 4.5gx AMD fx and it doesn't hit the barrier. my GPU has this mode where it doesn't overuse the GPU as my monitors are 60hz so it would only need 60fps roughly. but it outputs 120fps just in case. csgo is a choppy game too. I can't bare the new inferno its like it skips a frame. what maps are you playing most? GPU is also very CPU intensive. GPUs don't do most the work.

Also you did know having different ram speed will slow the fast one down to the same speed as the slowest?

the drivers you have installed were released in january, start by opening up nvidia geforce and check for updates, when you install the new drivers check the box for clean installation. let me know if this fixes it.

Uh... ?
You're talking in part about VSYNC ON which caps to 60FPS for 60Hz monitor. No idea what you mean by "120FPS just in case.. "

It's all academic because he should NOT DO WORSE when all he did was put in a better video card. Make sense?

I'll post this then give some advice below.

1) POWER OPTIONS-> make sure "PCIe link-state" is not set high as it can throttle the PCIe bus

2) DDU-> http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Use the "recommended" option when installing, reboot, then install the latest NVidia drivers.

3) Power cables properly attached to graphics card.

4) Try OTHER benchmarks as well. Not sure if this is the same poster as before, but try doing a quick FURMARK test at "PRESET HD 1080":
**I got 163fps average on my GTX1080, so you should be close to that.

5) I don't have CSGO, but if your FPS can most of the time be more than 2x the refresh the try using FAST SYNC (NCP-> manage 3d settings-> add game...).

That will create new frames as fast as possible, but ONLY draw the latest one and DROPS the rest. If your monitor is 60Hz it will automatically jump to multiples of 60 such as 120, 180, 240... if it's a 144Hz monitor you need to be able to produce about 300FPS (2x144 plus some delay to process the drivers to resend the frame).

The point is to avoid screen tearing AND reduce latency. It's not quite the same as VSYNC OFF at really high refresh rates which in some cases is better.

(it's a myth that "more than 60FPS is pointless on 60Hz panel" due to the reduce latency issue, and you can see SOME elements sooner which is ideal for some "twitch" shooters especially if screen tear isn't very obvious)

How do I find the POWER OPTIONS? In Nvidia Control Panel?

Yup did everything. I average 123 fps in FURMARK under 1080. That is a huge difference from yours. :O
CSGO still has the same issue :( But the GPU usage is a bit better after updating drivers.

Yer. I just unfortunately could not find the same ram again when I wanted to upgrade, plus from what I have read the CPU can't handle much higher ram speeds than 1600 mhz anyways, but that could be bogus.

I play all the pro maps mirage, inferno, nuke, dust2, cbble, cache, overpass, I get the same issue on all of them. I have seen people with worse graphic cards still get over 300 FPS with everything on max at 1080p.
