Hi, just wondering if this is a good build. If so, is a 600w psu good enough, or should I bump it up to 650w/700w. I also have 2x4GB ram, and a cryorig h7.

Solution

Right - gotta go now - sorry, maybe someone else comes along. I'll try to check back later and pull...
600W is absolutely fine. A good 450W is almost certainly enough - though a 520-550W is a good idea. Getting a quality PSU is more important than the amount of power is has written on the side.

What monitor are you intending to use?

That's a very capable gaming PC, it's just that you can probably get a Ryzen 5 1600 & GTX 1080 for the same price. Overall that's a better gaming build, and will likely hold up better in future too. The GTX 1070 and i5 is still super solid though if that's your preference.

My psu is a corsair cx 600w. If I got a Ryzen 5 1600 and a gtx 1080, would I still be OK with my psu, or would I have to change it. Let's say I decided to go with the Ryzen and 1080, how much would it cost, I still need a motherboard and ram. I'm using a 1080p 60hz monitor.

They're not great PSUs, but they're not terrible either, and yes, that's plenty of power. Might be worth exploring a PSU upgrade at some point in the future, but it shouldn't fry your components or anything like some trashy units can.

Have you got any plans to upgrade the monitor? Because a cheap i5/Ryzen5 CPU and an RX570/3GB 1060 would handle 1080P @ 60hz just fine in most games.

Do you want me to suggest a build for you?
If so, are you in the US? And can you list all the components you have already that you'd be reusing (in addition to the PSU).

I know I can get away with the cheaper components, but I'm thinking that I'll get the nicer stuff that will last longer.
So right now I have the psu, cooler, and a 1tb hdd . I'm planing on getting a core i5-7600k, evga 1070 8gb sc acx 3.0 black edition, 2x4GB ddr4 ram, phanteks eclipse p400 case, and a msi b250 pc mate motherboard. I know the motherboard isn't top of the line, but it will do what I need. This will cost me around $800; can't go any more. If you think I can do any better please let me know, any advice helps me out. I'm in the US, and sure, suggest me a build. Thank you so much for your help, I'm new to all this.

Just FYI - don't get the 7600K & a B250 board. You can't overclock on the B250 board and that's the only reason to get a "K" CPU. Also, at stock clocks the 7600K isn't really any better at gaming right now than a Ryzen 5, while in any productivity workloads and in all-likelihood in future gaming titles as we see better thread utilisation and Ryzen optimisation, the Ryzen 5 is 2 years time is likely to be a much better CPU than an i5 7600K... particularly when that i5 is stuck at stock clocks.

I'll do my best to suggest you a build if someone else doesn't come along and beat me to it. Are you hoping to buy soon (like in the next 24 hours?)

i'm planning on buying the parts in September, so please suggest a build. again, thank you so much for your help!

September? That's miles away. No point putting a build together now, parts will change, prices will change.

If you start a new thread when you have your budget together and you're ready to purchase you should get much better advice, and people will find current specials for you.

If you use the new build sticky here it's a good idea: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/353572-31-build-upgrade-advice
With the build sticky, everything is laid out really nicely and all the information is there which makes it really easy to help.

Generally people who use that get a bunch of people contributing to put together a great build for your priorities and budget.
