HooToo Powerline Adapter loses connection often.

Hi, I recently purchased a pair of HooToo powerline adapters since having an Ethernet connection run throughout my house was not an option.

The problem with the thing, though, is that is disconnects randomly and without really revealing anything as evidence. It looks like this when the disconnects do happen:

On the actual powerline adapters themselves, the 3 light indicators remain stable and the case for the adapters don't feel hot at all.

My connection stays in the above state for a good 30-seconds, then the notification appears that there is no internet connection on my network, then after 10-seconds I have internet access again.

This problem does not appear on any of my other devices, so I ruled out the router as the issue, and my house was also built not too long ago in 1989, so I don't think it's the wiring.

It's also worth mentioning that my connection only drops on the powerline adapter when I'm browsing the web. I've never had my connection drop once when playing any online games like Rainbow Six Siege or Street Fighter V on my PC.

If this is a common problem, then please tell me so so I won't be inclined anymore to return these HooToo Powerline Adapters and get another more expensive pair of powerline adapters, or return these for a replacement in case I just got a faulty pair.

Solution
Maybe just don't buy brands of equipment that have poor vendor support. Your solution is not a solution....keep the computer active all the time... Points to a bug in the device.
That is not a brand I have heard of but they may only market in certain countries. In theory at least all brands of these devices should be more or less the same since they must follow the same homeplug standards. This is one of those thing you would need to find out which companies powerline chips they are using. Even the very large powerline vendors buy the chips that do the actual functionality from another company like qualcomm for example.

Not sure what to recommend. There are the rare houses even the best powerline units do not work in. From the little I can tell about these units they are suppose to follow the newer av2 standard for homeplug device. Since this standard uses the ground lead for signals also it tends to work in more houses.

Alright so it seems the Tom's Hardware networking section is still rather ignorant when it comes to powerline adapters because I ended up finding a solution to this particular disconnect problem over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al3kwmfzsOQ

There is also another solution in the comments for that videos that goes like: "1) create a basic task in Task Scheduler that start C:\Windows\system32\ping.exe. 2) put -t xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in "add arguments". 3) tick the "Run whether user is logged on or not"

I used this solution, and I've yet to have any sort of disconnect for a good 2 days now, when before i'd get a disconnect every other hour. Posting this for anyone that is having problems with any cheap network adapters like the one I have, which again is the HooToo AV600 powerline adapter.

The powerline adapter works fine aside from this one minor bug. I only need this single pair I own so the fix I found works perfectly in my situation, but for console gaming and the like it would be more wise to get a more expensive powerline adapter. The issue I encountered is only found in the >$40 range it seems from the reviews I've read. But yea moral of the story is don't cheap out like I did. Gonna return these and do some further research on more reliable powerline adapters that don't have this flaw, since one day I will need to get more adapters for my Steam Link and another PC in another room. Currently having a problem with this though because in every review section of a powerline adapter on Amazon everyone seems to be having some sort of disconnect or internet speed slowdown problem...

The problem with powerline just like wireless is it is greatly affected by peoples houses. Like most things people that have issue tend to post more on review sites. In most cases they are reviewing their house or their neighbors wireless. Testing sites try to isolate some of these variables but they admit that you can not really compare what they find to your house.

Powerline devices have extremely strange problems. In my rent house we found if you turned a ceiling fan on medium it would kill the powerline devices located in rooms far from the fan. A identical fan in another room does nothing.

I am lucky that I can use all ethernet cables in my house.
