I plan to buy a laptop that only has ssd storage, and want to replace the existing ssd with my own. How would I go about transferring windows from the default ssd to my new ssd. My desktop does not support m.2 ssd. The laptop has one m.2 slot. Thank you!

Hi Hernandez
There are lots of options for this, but also some things to be aware of.
Couple of questions:
Do your want your old SSD's data onto your new laptops SSD, or switch the drives? Does the laptop only have m2 slot, or is this in addition to the built in SSD?
What are the sizes and manufacturers of the SSD's?

I will have none of my own data on the old ssd. It'll be presumably an oem 256GB m.2 drive. All it will have is a clean install of windows 10. The new drive will be a Samsung 960 evo pro 512GB. The laptop is the razer blade, they only have one m.2 drive slot and no hdd's. I want to transfer the copy of windows on the 256GB to my new ssd. I will be replacing the old ssd with the new.

Ok.
We will have to look at the hardware. Pls supply laptop model number, i will check up on its m2 capabilities, because Samsung 960 evo pro 512GB (very nice SSD) is ultra fast, and also uses NVMe protocol which your motherboard needs to support.

It's a razer blade 2017, it most definitely supports NVME. My desktop doesn't have an m.2 slot nor pcie 3.0. Do I have any options other than buying a external drive?
(Edit)
I have a windows 7 disc and a few keys that may or may not work. I could make a USB boot drive but would prefer to have windows 10
