Graphics Card doesn't Signal

Hello there

Something really weird happened to my PC, I just started it after several works when it was working fine, & I found out no signal from GPU to monitor, via DVI cable.
It's an AMD HD7770 with only DVI & HDMI outputs.

I thought PC is dead but it works fine when I connect VGA cable of my monitor to onboard VGA of mother board.

so I thought GPU is dead but it worked with another PC!

so I thought motherboard PCI-E slot is dead but another GPU (a weaker than my own GPU) works with my motherboard!

So everyone told me my PSU can't supply my current GPU, and as I have this PSU for near 6 years, I bought a new 530 watt PSU with no hesitation, & I'm totally disappointed, just wasted my money, GPU still doesn't signal even with this new PSU.

finally I though maybe my DVI card is not ok, but I tried to connect my TV via HDMI to this GPU, and still no signal, so I don't think DVI cable is issue, it seems no one of DVI & HDMI outputs of my GPU give signal.

Im totally out of option & badly need my PC back, also wasted my money on PSU, please help

Solution

That won't help, unfortunately.

My theory is, your motherboard PCIe x16 slot is busted. The reasoning:
-card was working with your mobo, so that excludes GPU/mobo incompatibility and wrong BIOS settings
-card is still working on other comp, so that excludes GPU failure (assuming it REALLY works, I mean runs games fine)
-tested with other PSU, so no PSU failure
-RAM and CPU are working fine with integrated, so no reason to suspect them

Why then the other GPU worked? I suspect (but can't check that out since would need to know exactly what was that GPU) the other GPU was operating electrically only as x8 card, so if slot failure happens...
Do the following:
>boot using iGPU, go to BIOS, change GPU order to iGPU first, power down
>install 7770, keep monitor connected to motherboard, boot to Windows, go to Device Manger and check if the Windows sees 7770 there and if there are any errors on this device listed
and report back what you found.

Thx for help, I only have 4 options in bios menu: Auto-IGFX-PEG-PCI, I switched to all of them, saved & rebooted (need shut down? Or reboot is enough?) and still my HD7770 is not recognized in device manager & no signal. Note that I did them all while VGA is connected to onboard graphics because I have no display with GPU DVI cable.

Okay, does your motherboard has second PCIe x16 slot? If yes, please try installing GPU in that 2nd slot and check if you get display from it.
Also, what exactly was the other GPU that works (Product code or link to manufacturer/seller page)?

Thx mate, if a 8 pin card really works with a PCIE slot that is partially damaged, then your theory is more logical, but you know who I'm suspect for?! The Gigabyte co.! Yeah I'm not kidding, this problem happened for me 3 years ago EXACTLY, my GeForce 9600GT stopped working with my gigabyte motherboard, I had to buy a new motherboard as technecian suggested me, & he sold me another gigabyte motherboard, & now I'm facing same issue again, an strategy to force people buy again after few years? An internal software is doing this deliberately?
I just wasted my money that time & even now with buying a new PSU.

Ah, so what do you suggest me now?

I hope so but believe me its very suspecious, if I have to buy motherboard I will pick an ASUS this time.
And tomorrow I will go to Gigabyte warranty center & bring my case too, they must figure out what the hell is going on and try to fix this.

And finally, thank you again for your tips.
