the driver folder is just a folder with the drivers before they are installed on the pc, the folder is not used after you install then into windows folders and windows registry uses the installed drivers

if you plan to migrate a hard disk with a install in it, before doing the swithc i would uninstall sound card drivers, chipset drivers, network drivers and turn pc off

do the mainboard migration and if windows is cooperative and oots with the new mainboard, install new drivers for the components that windows doesn't install by itself

the install drivers folder you mention, wipe them, those folders are just useless now that you are going to change mainboard

a pain a fresh windows install is?

are we talking about windows 10?

what pain?

the annoyance of reisntall all the things you need after installing it perhaps, the win10 install proces takes around 50 minutes more or less, that is not a pain
