Is my GPU dead or the PCI-e slot?

Hi guys. I came across this problem. I've put my PC to sleep yesterday night and it turned on automatically in the night(Sometimes it happens idk why, not a tech savvy guy). Today, I tried to use it and all I was able to see is black screen. I tried pull out the RAM modules and put it back in and it didn't work and later connected the VGA cable to the motherboard and it worked.

I tried to look up in the Device Manager and there was nothing; tried to open Catalyst as well but it said "settings cannot apply" something along those lines. I honestly think there's power going into the GPU because it does get kinda hot after turning it on for 5 mins. I tried taking off all the other things like Ethernet card and DVD drive to make sure if there's any insufficiency in the power, doesn't seem to do much. Cleaned all the slots too.

It's a quite old GPU, HD 4350, bought it in 2009. Um..is there anyway to find out if it's dead without having to put it in other PC to test it out? Also, I have a generic 450W PSU, if that matters.

Thanks :)))))))))

Only way to test the GPU is to put it in another computer to test it out. It's most likely dead if the onboard VGA works. It could be configuration issues in BIOS but I don't know why that would suddenly change. I would check the BIOS and see if the video is not set to just go to onboard but both addin card or the 'auto' setting.

Try uninstalling catalyst and redownloading it, worth a shot if nothing else works, also try a friends card in your machine to check pci-e and vice Vera's to check your card

It is on auto setting. I tried disabling on board graphics few hours ago to see if that'll work, I had to use the jump starter to get into the BIOS and enable it again. It's really weird, this thing happened overnight and it does heat up after few minutes into boot. I'll try my best to get someone's PC to try it on.

Late but I couldn't find a computer to test it on. Here is what I did to find if GPU is dead: When nothings connected to monitor, it said "No Cable Connected" and as soon as it said it, I quickly connected my VGA cable and the notification is gone and comes when when the cable it removed. So there's definitely power going into the GPU and successfully sending signals to the monitor but isn't giving any display output. clearly it's dead.

Bought a new GPU now, working super fine. Thank you all.
