Hello there,

The last time I changed platforms and upgraded my whole build was back in 2009/2010.
Went from an Athlon X2 to a Phenom II X4 955 BE based build and a HD6850 1GB.

Years went by and I added another 4GB of RAM (8GB total), upgraded to a 850 EVO 500GB SSD, bought a new PSU, a Seasonic S12 ii 620W Bronze since my OCZ StealthXStream died and bought a used GTX660 2GB back in 2011/2012 or so for the same price I sold my HD6850.

Now this PC has served me very well, has seen some insane OCs from 3.8 to 4.2Ghz on a ThermalTake cooler I bought back in the days but I'm afraid hardware degradation is real and this thing even at 3.6Ghz doesn't feel like it's pushing better numbers than what it was pushing at stock, back when it was new.

Motherboard lan controller stopped working too so I had to buy a PCI-E network adapter, it has some hiccups here and there where the pc hangs for a second during itensive tasks (streaming from Aceplayer + doing something else sometimes triggers these hiccups) and the only game I play, Battlefield 4 MP, is starting to have real bad performance on 64p servers. It was never good to begin with. I also came to realize my punny Phenom is even bottlenecking my even punnier GTX660 during this very same game, while the CPU hangs at 100% the GTX is barely over 60%.

So, the other issue here is, I have the bank to go straight into an i7 7700k or even a R5/R7 build however, being a young adult, gaming days are over and I really only have time during weekends.

Taking this into account I've been looking into the used market and found a couple of decent bundles. One of them is an i7 4770k + Asus Maximums Hero VI C2 + Noctua NH-U12P SE2 all for 300€ (trade will be done in person).

So my question to you is, is this a decent price for this bundle? Guy wanted 400€, I offered 300€ e then counterered with 350€ until I said I wasn't interested and he's now accepting my 300€ offer since he has since sold most of the components on his build and wants to upgrade/get rid of the rest.

TL;DR: is the 4770k + Asus Maximums Hero VI C2 + Noctua NH-U12P SE2 for 300€ a good deal in 2017 for someone not looking into spending too much upgrading from a Phenom II X4 build?

Thanks and sorry for the wall of text.

That memory should work, you might need to manually set the timings, voltage, and speed but it should boot up and run just make sure to reset CMOS on the board before the first boot or it will try to use the settings of the memory he had installed.
1600 9 timings 1.65 volts

That is a huge increase in performance.
300 bucks for the chip, board, and cooler is a good deal.
The 4770K is still a very good CPU.
You will need to do a fresh install of windows and your old code might or might not activate with the new board.

Thanks for your answer.
I'll be looking for more feedback.
I believe my Windows 10 key is bound to my Microsoft account but not sure.
Also, another question:

I have 4 sticks of 2GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 RAM and since this might be my first intel build since the Pentium 2 and Pentium 4 days, I believe Intel doesn't like high voltage RAM or am I wrong?

This is a SS of Cpu-z of my RAM. Will it work fine?

I've got a 4770k in one computer and a 4790k in another. Neither of them have left me wanting for performance even slightly. The 4770k is "technically" three generations old, but each generation since has only been a very slight increase in performance. And it's not something you'd really even notice unless you peg your CPU at 100% that frequently.

In terms of your current equipment, it's a huge upgrade and the seller is asking a fair amount.
