Hey guys

I have just built a new rig, i7 7700k, 32gb ram, 500gb ssd.
Since computer parts are expensive here in NZ I thought I would keep my existing HD7970 and then find another cheap one to crossfire just for a bit more power until I get some more recent cards in the future.

The problem is, with just one card I was getting expected FPS on games and all was working well. When I installed the second HD7970, every single game runs at 10 to 20 fps, even something old like Counter Strike Source. It also affects all the loading screens etc.

I have tried both the latest stable drivers and the latest optional drivers with no improvement.
My motherboard is an ASRock Fatality k6.

Any help would be appreciated.

My apologies, I meant 16.11.5. Yes it is old but the latest drivers were locking the second cards memory clock at 150mhz when it should be 1500mhz. That's where I figured my problem was.
So far haven't seen any issues in any games, they all scale pretty well. Time will tell I guess.

what mainboard?

remember that sli or crossfire will not work well on alot of games this days, some doesn't even work and others will have performace loss

very few will use both gpus and will give you better fps

what is the psu you have for this machine, give us more details on the gpus, psu, mainboard, more details

Gpus are sapphire vapor X cards, psu is a corsair RM 1000i 1000w unit, motherboard is asrock fatality k6 gaming.
I am aware of the issues with crossfire but 10fps on every game seems like a deeper issue.
