Which one [CPU] is better?

Solution

It's not. The new one is much better than the old!

1) the 3.0Ghz P4 has only one processing core. The 2.9Ghz G3930 has 2, so it can do up to twice as much in one cycle.
2) The G3930 is much more *efficient* than the P4 - it can do more work per single cycle.

It's similar reasoning to why an 1960's sports car with a 7-liter engine might not be able to keep up with a modern sports car with a 3-liter one. The modern 3-liter is just so much more sophisticated than the old 7-liter...

But then why the older processor i better than newer? I Mean Pentium 4 is with 3.0GHz, G3930 is with 2.90GHz... 3.0GHz is more than 2.90GHz.

The modern 3-liter is just so much more sophisticated than the old 7-liter that it produces far more power per liter capacity, and will be more efficient too.

Solution

The newer processor can process more instructions in fewer clock cycles and is therefore effectively faster
