i7-7700k performing extremely slow very suddenly

I have been using this computer for several months now, I upgraded to an i7-7700k back in January. All of a sudden last night my CPU cooler went full throttle on the fans which I found a little odd, but didn't think much of it at the time. When I turned the computer on today, it took the computer nearly 5x as long to boot up, everything on the screen was hitching. The CPU usage skyrocketed to around 80% at the desktop. it takes programs twice as long to open. After letting it sit for a while, it seems to stabilize, but then I go and watch YouTube videos and if I move my mouse cursor, the video will freeze. I think the only thing that happened recently was a couple days ago I updated my Motherboard's BIOS. What is going on, what happened? I'm very concerned that if this is a problem with the CPU, that I will need to buy another one.

System:
i7-7700k
32GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
Gigabyte AORUS Z270X Gaming K7
Samsung EVO 950 SSD

Well, Bios updates can cause lots of problems. Are you running the latest motherboard update?? I would say install coreTemp and check those cpu temps, you should be around 30~40 for ideal. If its like 50-60 ideal then maybe there is problem.

You also said the computer was slow to start and programs open slow.. that could be an SSD problem

I am indeed running the latest version of my motherboard's BIOS, version F5. I also installed coreTemp and the temps seem to hover around 40-50.

Are you overclocking your cpu?? Also what cooler are you using?

I am not overclocking, I am keeping it at base speeds, and the cooler I am using is the EVGA CLC 280 AiO Liquid Cooler. I assumed this was overkill of a non-overclock set up, but the temps don't seem to indicate that

That is actually pretty high ideal temps for that set-up... If you comfortable doing it; take the cpu cooler off and clean off your thermal paste and apply new thermal paste; maybe it wasn't applied correctly first time

I had this same problem when I used the Cryorig H7 cooler. My CPU's temps seem unnaturally high, I tried re-applying thermal past with that cooler and it didn't change anything. I actually changed to this new CPU cooler because Afterburner told me my CPU temps were hitting the high 80's while gaming with the Cryorig.
