Can't get the 4th screw into heatsink

I'm putting a new system together and the cpu I bought requires a 'colder' temp heatsink. I bought an Artic model Freezer A11 heatsink. To install it, I had to remove the stock heatsink bracket from the motherboard.
To install the new heatsink they include 4 quarter inch plastic rings that are to be placed under the 4 screws I took out and then put 4 screws back in, through the rings, attaching the heatsink to the processor. My problem is only 3 of the screws will go in. I even screwed each one down a little at a time, to keep them somewhat even. I tried for over an hour to get the thing to screw in with no luck. Can I run the computer with just the 3 screws that hold the heatsink and CPU to the motherboard? I hope someone has an answer to this, so I don't have to take them all back out and start over.

Sometimes you really have to press down to get the 4th in, but no, you can't run with 3 and get good cooling. You would be better off with the older heatsink than one installed with 3. You're probably lucky if 1/3rd of the surface area is covered and tension is uneven so pressure is being put on 1 corner a lot.

i would start over, the heatsink and thermal paste should be evenly spread over the cpu so it works as intended, you can never be sure it will happen but with just 3 screws in you can bet it wont be even. No one likes to hear/read this but be patient and start over again.

Yes, I was afraid I was going to have to start over. I know that's the 'right' way to do it.

To Popatim, That's the way the instructions says to do it. Take a look at it at:
https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Freezer-A11-Heatpipes-Vibration-Dampened/dp/B00HO9P0J6

You'll see that there's no way to put the brackets on first. The heat sink covers the holes to screw it on after the brackets are installed.
Thanks everyone, for your help.
