Ok ive had my gaming pc for a while. but one day it stopped working. This is what happens, I turn on the computer then the MSI logo shows up then i hear a beep (this is obviously normal). But shortly after that a list of bootable devices show up. And what is not normal is the fact that it only shows my CD/DVD driver. It does not show my hard drive. I know the hard drive is spinning becuase i can feel the vibrations. Ive tried switching the power and data chords from the CD/DVD to the hard drive and still nothing. But the weird thing is that it shows up perfectly fine in the BIOS and ive check the boot loading order. This problem came out of nowhere. I think it may be because of some type of malware but im not sure. this is very frustrating... Let me know if any of you tech genius' can help a brother out.

This is beyond a DIY recovery and you really need to seek professional data recovery assistance if you want to rescue the data. If not, just replace the drive and move on.

A few reputable and affordable labs I recommend are:

Recovery Force
Data-Medics
PCImage

Whatever you do, don't let just anyone break the seal on your drive. Most of the time, they just make things worse and cause data recovery labs to charge extra for the increased complexity of the case.

1. what is the full model of the drive?
2. have you tried to connect the drive as a slave to another working system to see if it accessible there?
3. is there any important data on the drive? If so, you should probably seek the assistance of a data recovery professional before the damage gets any worse
4. when it detects in the BIOS, are you 100% sure that it is showing the full capacity of the drive?

What is the error message you are getting? And, I agree with #3, if you're not going to send your HD off to a DR company/specialist, then do this: if affordable, if possible, usb or dvd boot Macrium Reflect or anything similar, do a one-pass sector by sector clone or full image of the whole HD onto any reliable external HD. Keep the clone spare in a safe place, it might be needed later on.

my hard drive model is DT01ACA100

and i plan on connecting the hard drive to my laptop via a sata cord adapter once it comes in the mail tmr

and there isnt really "important stuff on there" just stuff i would like to have back. The only thing that is really important is windows itself. I dont want to buy windows again. I have the product key so hopefully that helps

and when it shows up in the BIOS i am 100 percent sure it shows the full amount. 2TB

If it is windows 10 and already activated on that computer, you shouldn't need to enter a key again.

If the file system isn't accessible right away, you may want to clone the drive then use a data recovery program to scan for your file system.

Update: So the internal hard drive adapter just came in and it wont show up in windows (on my laptop) but i want through CMD and then "diskpart" and i saw the disk. But it says that there are 0GB on this harddrive. and i tried to creat a new partition and it said there was a hardware error. So i think something is broke in side. If anyone has any knowledge on how to fix broken components of hard drives help would be greatly appreciated.
