I'm seriously annoyed right now. There is a dead ant inside of my monitor which is the MG279Q. Is there anything I could do instead of replacing it? Thank you.

I saw an ant crawling on my screen, or I thought it was, and tried swiping it off and I end up squishing it. Now it's behind the panel. From what I can see, there is no hole but it probably found a very small one. Should I just replace the monitor with the one year plan?

All monitors have small holes where even dust can get inbetween the LCD panel and monitor glass. I have some dust particles getting in my very expensive Dell U2713H 1440p 27" monitor that looks like dead pixels. I tap the screen and they fall.

You have two options: take it apart yourself if out of warranty, or get a replacement. If it's under warranty, this situation would not be covered (like my dust). A third option is to say that you just opened it and turned it on and see a dead ant and hope the store you bought it from replaces it or gives you a refund (I'd try that).

I bought it from newegg and bought their 1 year extended replacement plan. Would it not be covered?

Have you read what their extended coverage plan covers? If it's unconditional like in this case, get an RMA with them. How long have you had that monitor? I only ask because if you just bought it recently they'll likely give you less flack than them saying "well it's your fault you have an ant problem" instead of "It was an ant that got in from shipping." Hypothetical in either case, but I think about these things when returning something.

I bought it sometime in December. it says on their plan Hardware Mechanical Failures, No Shipping Fees, Accident Protection (on eligible products), No Deductibles or Hidden Fees, 100% Parts and Labor Costs.

Huh. Well I guess it depends on what they consider being an "accident." That's why I was going in the direction I was going. The question is if they would consider an act of nature (ant) being the same thing as a spilled cup of coffee.

Well, turns out I have to wait a few days for them to respond... until then, I'll try and find a way to get the ant out without voiding any warranty.
