Networking issues after resetting CMOS

I woke up one morning with my PC essentially dead. When turning it on the power supply fan and the CPU fan would start...then shut down. It wouldnt power on at all. I thought it was maybe the power supply but turns out that all I had to do was reset the "cmos". (Pulled battery on system board for 5 minutes..reinstall and it booted). updated my date and time and I thought I was good. Now however, everything works great until the PC sits for a few hours. Then I cant browse the internet anymore. I can go to a DOS prompt and validate that I can ping a web server (so DNS is still working and I appear to have an ip address)...but no browsing. Not browser related as it affects both IE and Chrome. Anyone have any ideas what may be going on? Windows 8.1.
Thx

Hi. I figured out the issue. It actually turned out to be the windows firewall. I found that the firewall service was turning off. I set it back to default settings and now its working. Thank you.
