So basically i'm building my first PC and I have a windows 10 CD thats never been used, but my case doesn't/won't have an optical drive. Is there anyway I can get the product key off of the CD without actually using it in my new PC? Any response is great, thanks!

Solution
Product key is not on the disc it should be on its own sticker or peice of paper. As for the installation you can use Microsofts media creation tool to download win 10 and create a bootable usb key.

I don't have a sticker or piece of paper anywhere, I literally just have the CD. Would this still work?

No, you need to buy a legitimate license. Where did you get the DVD (Windows does not fit on a CD)?

The DVD that you have is worthless because Windows 10 has been updated to the Creators Update. You can use the media creation tool to download a copy of the newest version of Windows 10 and save it as an ISO file then put it on a DVD or a USB. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

After that you will still need to buy a product code from Microsoft so that you will have a legitimate license to run Windows 10.

The disc itself is next to worthless especially since Win 10 media is easy to create, the product key/COA is what you pay for when you buy windows.

I found the CD lying around my house, after searching around my house for a bit i managed to find the product key.

Throw it away and make a new one using the media creation tool. The new one will have the Creators Update.
