So yesterday i added some new rams and i'm pretty confident that i had at least 30gigs of free space in my 120gb SSD that i primarily use for OS - anyhow, check this morning and i've only 9gigs of free space! After using CCleaner and diskcleanup - i was able to free up 2 gigs of free space to bring it up to 11gigs - but that doesn't explain where the 20gigabytes of free space went to? :/
Some help would be really nice, thank you!

Solution
Hibernation. Uses 75% of available ram. If you update the ram size, Hyberfil.sys will also absorb an extra amount of the OS drive for hibernation purposes. All of which are useless on a desktop pc since you don't have battery saving options or instant shutoff due to someone closing the screen. With 16Gb of ram, that's 12Gb of free space Hyberfil.sys steals that goes unused. You can turn off hibernation, but disk usage is still there, the only option being get rid of Hyberfil.sys completely.

check your virtual memory settings. standard default windows config is to have virtual memory = ram. if you added ram you will see an equal increase in virtual memory. its under system properties -> advanced tab -> performance settings -> advanced tab -> change virtual memory -> set it to custom size

It doesn't seem to be that - I've actually assigned virtual memory onto another SSD that i have.

use a program like treesize to determine the culprit.
