Brand new computer, with RX-480, and cannot get the graphics card to work. The computer is running off of the CPU graphics.

System specs are:

i5-7500 @ 3.4 gHz
AMD RX-480 4GB
16 GB RAM
Windows 10 64 bit

Right-clicking on the desktop and clicking Radeon settings shows the following message:

"Radeon settings are currently not available. Please try again after connecting a display to AMD graphics and extending the display."

I have tried using the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility, restarting, and re-installing all drivers, and restarting, but it did not work. In fact, after I did this, when I right-clicked on the desktop, the graphics card settings tab did not even appear, only the Intel CPU graphics tab remained. I have also tried using DDU to uninstall drivers in safe mode, restarting, reinstalling all drivers, but did not work because when I tried to reinstall the drivers it said files were corrupted (presumably by DDU) and could not install.

Please help me! I am so disappointed by this technical difficulty.

Well, you may be right. However, one critical detail I was unaware of is that this GPU requires an HDMI connection with the monitor. So I got an HDMI cable and plugged it in only to find another problem. Now, when updating the driver, I get an error message saying no AMD hardware can be found. Prior to updating, I can see the GPU in the devices menu; after updating, it is not there. I bought this computer pre-assembled from newegg.com, it is called the ABS Bearcat Avenger gaming PC. I assumed they put it all together correctly (that's why I bought it pre-assembled). Given this updated information, is your answer still a possibility? I have very limited knowledge of the parts and where they are connected. To what part is the GPU supposed to be plugged in?

Thank you!

Superninja12, you were right! I had plugged the monitor into the motherboard instead of the GPU. I fixed this error right before work, plugging the monitor into the GPU, while at the same time my PC was uninstalling AMD drivers (in preparation to reinstall them again). I had to leave my PC running that process. When I got home from work, I found a Windows 10 blue screen error code: 0xc000000f. I am currently reinstalling Windows 10 from the Windows Recovery DVD-ROM that came with my computer. I know this probably wasn't necessary, and I'm hopeful that after the install is complete, I will be able to boot up normally, in the same way that the PC booted up the first time I plugged everything in and turned it on. However, I don't know what effect this reinstall will have. I sincerely apologize for my inexperience and evident naiveté. I do not know how or if this will affect the motherboard, or if I will have to run setup or configuration for my motherboard after this reinstall with the DVD for the motherboard.

Motherboard: H110M-E/M.2

Thank you for helping me out this far! I probably would have been just fine if I had plugged the monitor into the correct place to begin with. My current difficulty was apparently created somewhere in the process of my pointlessly uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers, which seems to have negatively effected some important files.

Thank you for your attention this thread! I am very excited about my new gaming PC, as I have not had one for a long time! :)
