Is this build good?

Solution

They all come off the same assembly line in Thailand, it doesn't really matter. I would invest in a better cooler though - the Hyper 212 Evo just doesn't cut it anymore. The Noctua NH-U12, Phanteks TC-12PE, or the Cryorig H5 would be far better purchases than that.

All your parts are great, however I'd definitely go with a better PSU.

Are you kidding me? The Supernova G2 is one of the best you can buy right now, it doesn't get much better than these units. You don't need more than 550W unless you're running multiple GPUs. GPUs are using less power with each generation, not more. A 550W should...

Thanks

So you think that the 650W is not enough?

Thanks

The cooler is the 212x and not the EVO btw. They are pretty similar tho.

Drumsayer recommended the 750W version of the same GPU. So he still supports the Supernova G2.

Good build. I was able to shave off quite a bit of money though. The EVGA G2 550w gold would have been more than good enough and powerful enough, but since the 650w is just $5 more, it's a good buy.

Yeah the 650W is not more by much so I went with it.

Thanks!

Really? Unless you are doing some super stuff, it works wonders for me. Unless it's been failing on the Kaby Lake chips. But that's interesting. Thinking about going to the 6700 or 7700 and thinking about which AIO to get

The extra wattage isn't necessary - even for a decent overclock. You only need higher wattage if you're going SLI or you're adding a full custom liquid loop - neither are really necessary though. I still wouldn't recommend a 212 in this day and age. They were excellent coolers 5 years ago, but now things have improved with cooling technology so much more than they were then.

Yeah they were good coolers, but much better coolers have come along since then. I'm personally not a big fan of AIOs but if you're thinking of going with one, the Cryorig A80 is one of the best on the market currently.

Well I don't want a AIO either, but I want the best cooling possible for this chip. I really don't want an AIO because I have two Noctua intake fans that is perfect and keeps everything. Sorry I'm off topic, but which cooler would you recommend?

You can't go wrong with anything Noctua makes, but I also like Phanteks and Cryorig. I have an H5 and an R1 and they're both excellent coolers. They're very easy to install, come with excellent thermal compound, and Cryorig gives you everything you need.
