Hi.
I had found a discarded HP Probook 6460b. I checked it from the outside, everything looked ok except for the fact that the hard disk had been removed. So I just took it with me for testing.
Just to check if it powers on and if the battery charges. I just powered on with the charger connected and it gave the following 3 error messages.
1. PXE-E61 Media test failure
2. PXE-M0F Check cable connection.
3. Boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk - (3F0)
I assumed that these error messages will go once I insert a 2.5" HDD. So I did just that, but still the error messages kept on coming. I assumed that the windows installed in the HDD is not automatically detected by the computer.
Next step. Create a Linux (Kubuntu) live USB and boot the laptop again. This time it boots up. In the file manager, it also detects the hard disk drive. So I go ahead and install Kubuntu by creating a partition (did not format the entire disk).
Shut down and remove the USB after installation.
Power up again without live USB and still the same error messages !
I tried to install Kubuntu once again but the error messages are just not going.
Can someone please help me with this?
Regards,
Debayan
