Fans not working (B350 Tomahawk)

Two days ago I received my new Ryzen 5 (1600) and I bought MSI B350 Tomahawk motherboard. I decided to use same case, fans, graphic card, PSU, etc. so I know that the rest of parts can work. First time I switched on my computer all fans (I'm using 3 on case plus the cpu's one that came with 1600) worked fine, but since then, when I switch on my computer only turns on one of the three fans (sys_fan1).

I tried to change its configuration via BIOS, but they aren't working anyway. I set the speed of all my fans (including cpu's one) to 100% and all of them works perfectly, after that, it maintains these two fans at 400-500 rpm more or less (rear fan works at 800-1000 rpm and cpu's one can change depending of what I'm doing). The problem is... that If I switch off my computer and then switch on again, these two fans don't work (sys_fan2 and sys_fan3) so I have to enter BIOS and set to 100% and later set back to "default" again.

The fans connectors have holes for 3 pins and the mobo has 4 pins.
I'm currently using the latest BIOS (1.40)

I'm afraid I'm going to burn my new cpu. I read that these Ryzen cpus are cooler than older cpus (I was using a Phenom II) but I'm suffering higher temperatures than before. My current house temperature is at 24ºC and right now my cpu (using only mail and firefox with all fans working as I described before) is at 40ºC/102ºF more or less. With a game I saw 75 almost 80ºC and I'm not OCing my cpu. I don't have any idea of what to do or if my motherboard is not working fine.

Anyone know what can I do?

4 pin PWM fans all...

Make sure that your fan headers are properly installed. If your fans don't work even after that then I think there's a problem with your motherboard. You should get your motherboard replaced. Also ensure that you have installed your fans in their respective fan slots on the motherboard (i.e. ensure that you have installed your cpu fan header in the cpu fan slot and not in some other slot and vice versa ). Hope this helps!

The problem is that I have to turn them on manually and after that they work fine. Is just that my motherboard doesn't start two of them if I don't force them myself.

Now for example, I see on MSI command center that they are all working perfectly, increasing or decreasing its rpm depending of cpu's temperature. Since I manually switched on two of them and fixed the third fan's speed I can play without any problem (maintaining 60ºC more or less temperature).

I have no idea if it's a driver bug of the latest BIOS that I installed yesterday. I received my pieces two days ago and I don't know if it was the same before this BIOS update.

Is that BIOS version on the Beta stage? If it is then downgrade to a non-beta/stable version if possible. Also try to flash your BIOS again as there is a possibility that BIOS may not have been properly flashed.

Yep, it is a stable version (Release Date 2017-04-26)

I don't want to try to downgrade it yet (because they improved ram compatibility so I can use 2400mhz instead of 2133) but well, I'll try to flash the latest one again. Thanks for your help.

I hope this is just some sort of bug because I don't want to check manually everything with command center every time I switch on my computer.

Since they works when I force them I'm mostly sure this is a driver or some sort of bug, but I don't see more people reporting it, so... no idea.

In the end I installed latest BIOS again.

Fans weren't working anyway so I tried to flash its first BIOS and then... they worked again. Seems like MSI configured all fans' speed to 100% when you start a computer using its first BIOS and in the latest patch they changed it.

Since my fans are old (like 6-7 years or so) seems like I can't use them with modern motherboards if they don't work at 100% because I saw that my motherboard tried to start them with less energy or something, so it couldn't make them work. I have to push them to start working.

Anyway: I feel like an idiot and I should buy new fans.

Now my question is: should I buy 4 pins fans or 3? because most of them still have 3 with a 4 pin adaptor.

Since my problem is that my fans are old I'll pick your answer as a solution. (another solution is to poke them every time)

Thanks all!
