I have recently built a pc and have been able to run every single game I've thrown at it with 60+ fps. For example, I average 50-70 fps in BF1 on Ultra, I average 60-80 fps on high playing Rust, and I get between 250-300 fps playing CSGO. But when I run MInecraft i get between 40-60, not once have I seen it go over 60 and the lowest I've seen it at is 45ish. I have looked for a solution and they all say lower your render distance or download 64 bit Java. I have downloaded 64 bit Java and nothing changed also, if I put my render distance at 2 chunks it is no different than 32 chunks. I am very confused, the game is playable but I would like to see more fps.

My specs are:

CPU: i5-7500 @3.4 ghz
GPU: ASUS RX 480 Strix
RAM: 16gb 4gb are allocated to minecraft btw

V-Sync is basicly a performance killer
Its use is to remove stuttering, by caping the framerate to 60, if the computer cannot anchieve continious capped 60, it will go down to 45, and then to 30.
Also, for a little more perfomance, you can install optifine, and turn on VBos

Are you playing modded MC, vanilla survival, or on a server? I've got a similar build, i5 6600k... I usually set my render distance to 24...

That being said the biggest performance changers in vanilla Minecraft IMO are render distance, particle level, and especially the cloud cover settings.

Try changing the cloud graphics to fast if they're on fancy, and increase their height. If you still don't like your fps set particles to the medium setting, and render distance to 16.

With everything turned off and set to low the FPS does not change. I have tested it on a server and singleplayer. I have no mods installed and play just vanilla. Also, the game has crashed at least 5 times now. It says not responding and I end the task through the task manager and it brings me back to the launcher and says something like The game crashed unexpectedly sorry for the inconvience.

Well I found the problem, V-Sync was on. Did not know that cause such a heavy fps drop. I turned it off and immediately shot up to 300+ fps! Thanks for the response anyways! <3
